For several centuries, world flags have been featured in different places to indicate the property of a certain nation or government. The British were aggressively colonizing different parts of the globe so there were several governors assigned in different territories. Each of these places also featured a flag to indicate the various nations under the British regime such as Australia, India, the Caribbean Islands and New Zealand. The British Commonwealth over time also gained independence from the British Empire so the countries also made their own flags to signify independence. The Australian government also featured its own flag which still has remnants of the original British flag.
For many years, military flags were also featured on the battlefield to let other people know about the different formations to be assumed and to identify the different regiments. The military flags were constantly featured in the armed forces to represent each military unit. These gave the fighting soldiers more pride and courage when facing the enemy
Flags also frequently identify different groups and agencies depending on the particular objectives. Each flag was carefully designed to represent the government and independent people. There are flags for each branch of government such as the Labor Department, Department of Agriculture and Justice Department.
After the September 11 attacks, the United States featured more flags throughout the nation. The Star Spangled Banner was raised to strengthen the people. This was always used to raise the morale of the American people that nothing can break them down no matter what happens.
