Folding the American Flag Properly

Military men generally fold the American flag in a triangle whenever it is not displayed for everyone to see. The exercise is done in many parts of the country. Even though there is no rule that the flag must be kept this way, many people still adhere to the practice to keep the flag in good condition.

1. Start the process by finding an assistant then holding the flag waist-high and parallel to the floor.

2. Next, fold the striped part of the flag lengthwise over the part where the stars are found. The bottom and upper edges should be held properly.

3. Fold the flag lengthwise, keeping the blue portion on the outside.

4. Make a rectangle by folding the flag and then a triangle fold. This can be done by putting the striped corner to meet the top end of the banner. The fold should start from the left and continue towards the opposite side.

5. The outer end point should be placed inward to create another triangle.

6. Continue doing the triangle folds until the whole flag is completely folded. It will take around 12 to 13 folds to finish. The last part of the flag might not even form a full triangle so tuck it instead.

7. As soon as the flag is fully folded, only leave the triangle blue field on the outside.

The American flags must be kept well in flag cases to keep it free from dust and damage. These are usually brought out in ceremonies. Oak paneling pieces
