The American flag should hold a special meaning in each citizen of the United States. The flag depicts freedom and democracy and was fought for in many battles in the past

Regardless of your political standing and your personal opinions and concerns about matters in the Middle East, it is more important to remember that American troops are deployed there in the war zone.

Several of the men sent to the Middle East are National Guard soldiers originating from the many states of the nation. They have been commanded to protect the country from overseas.  These personnel are offering their lives to protect their families back home and ensure that the freedom of the United States remains.

We should all offer our own time to show concern to our brave troops by flying the national flag on a daily basis.

The flag must constantly be treated with full respect and importance. The flag should be considered a living body because it symbolizes a living country.

The blue union side of the flag must stay up.

The flag must be held properly and should not come in contact with the ground.

The flag must be free to fly and should not be carried flat.

The flag must always be clean and should not be displayed soiled or deteriorated.

The U.S. flag was adopted on June 14, 1777. It is the fourth oldest national flag worldwide.

You will notice the national flag on Labor Day on September 6 in many locations and events.

Making Custom Flags: The Screen Printing Process

There are a number of approaches used when custom flags are printed. The screen printing process can be done via hand, machine or digital imaging.

Custom flags are usually printed with the aid of a screen printing method using materials that are common among flags such as nylon, woven polyester, knitted polyester, etc.

Initially, the design is made on the computer for the filming machine. If the flag maker incorporates 2 colors so 2 films will also be needed using the filming machine. 1 film will be needed for each color. The film is also applied with the aid of light to create the printing plate. Using 2 colors in the custom flag layout will also require 2 plates, which is generally the same as the traditional method of making photos in a dark room.

When applying colors, CMYK powder is applied to create the CMYK colors or PMS colors. These are combined using a machine and the combination 60%K, 40%Y, 30%C and 20%M is used. Cataplasm is also incorporated. When the colors are properly combined, these will be ready for application.

The flag material is then positioned on a flat surface. Huge amounts can also be placed on a machine which will take up less time and also cost less. Another option is to use a long flat bed top for small runs. This is done by hand and colors are applied one after another.

The plate is finally screened and the color dye is added properly via the open spaces of the plate and right on the custom flag fabric found underneath.
