Making Your Own Flag Case

First of all, determine the right size of flag you need to create. Measure the folded flag by getting a tape measure or another flag for comparison. Get the vertical, horizontal and diagonal measurements. You also need to determine the right thickness so you can properly fit it into the flag case.

Next, think of the right type of wood to use. Oak is a great material to work with. You can also go for pinewood which is cheaper.

The flag case is generally rectangular and you can cut the angles at 45 degrees. The length of the board should provide enough allowance so that the flag and glass can easily fit within. Wood also has its own grain so learn how to position the pieces together.

Get the measurements at the longest part of the angle board. Use a speed square or framing square by measuring the board at its long point. Arrange the pieces together.

Also put a short point on the remaining piece. The goal is to turn the piece at 180 degrees. The short point should also be cut again to convert it into a long point.

The coupe of angles at the display case’s top should fit perfectly and the grain pattern must flow well. These should appear continuous when placed together.

Finally, attach the pieces together to create a triangle. The side pieces may appear very long. You can pencil mark at the base so that it goes over the piece. The result flag case will look very symmetrical.

I am an adventurous type of person who loves outdoor activities. Folding the American Flag the Right Way

The American flag is traditionally folded and kept in a triangular shape especially in the military. The practice has been passed on through the years and people throughout the United States and the world have also learned how to keep the flag in that manner.

1. Start by holding the flag at just about the height of your waist. Have another person assist to keep the material parallel to the ground.

2. Spread the flag out between the two of you then begin the fold at the lower part of the stripe area. Fold the flag in a lengthwise manner over the field of stars so that the bottom and top edges are properly held together.

3. Make sure that the blue field is found on the exterior.

4. Do a rectangular fold followed by a triangle fold by putting the striped area of the folded part to come together with the top portion of the banner. Do the fold beginning from the left then moving towards the right.

5. Fold the outer portion inward and keep it parallel to the open end. Create a second triangle.

6. Continue folding the flag in a triangular manner until the whole flag is already folded. Generally, you can make about 13 triangular folds. Tuck the last fold to keep it neat.

7. After the banner is fully folded, you should see the blue field with the stars on the outside.
