Information for Flagpole Installation

If you take time to observe the ground sleeve at the bottom of the flag pole, without the pole itself, you will find some wedges in the inner part. These are responsible for holding the flag pole properly in place in the middle of the foundation. The ground sleeve also features a ground spike which will effectively channel lightning off.

Aside from the ground sleeve, the structural foundation will also include a flash collar. It is placed just over the sleeve and at the base, it functions as a protector, keeping the pole safe from outdoor agents and providing a clean and orderly look to the finish. The space found between the pole and the flash collar will have concrete poured over it to make sure that the pole is properly sealed and water and air and dirt do not readily go into the base, thereby ruining the foundation.

The in-ground should be properly installed deep into the ground to avoid toppling the flag over when strong winds blow and during heavy rains. At least 10 percent of the flag pole should be deeply placed into the ground. Others will sink the flag pole lower especially when using very tall flag poles. When putting large poles, ask advice from a professional, who can provide tips on the best materials and the right dimensions to use. A good dealer will provide you with quick tips and info on the pros and cons of each type of material. You will also learn several things about safely and securely installing the flagpole. Tips for Effective Flagpole Installation

When installing a flagpole, you will have to look for wedges for the inner part of the ground sleeve which is positioned in the middle to hold the flag pole firmly in place. The foundation should include the ground sleeve which will act as a spike to channel lightning safely.

The foundation will also feature a flash collar, aside from the ground sleeve. It is placed just over the ground sleeve and the base portion to protect the setup from outdoor elements. The foundation will also have a clean and neat look in the end. The space between the flash collar and flag pole will be filled using concrete cement to adequately seal the base, keeping water and other elements out that may deteriorate the flag pole over time.

When installing the in-ground flag pole, put it deep under the ground so that the flag stays straight up even in the presence of strong gusts and earthquakes. The Dominican Republic’s National Flag: The Cross and The Bible

People who are familiar with the “Star Spangled Banner” will know that it is related with the flag of the United States of America. There are 50 stars on the American flag which represent the 50 states. Other countries also feature at least one star on their flag. There is one country, however, that features a bible and cross instead – the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic flag feature the white, blue and red colors. These are known to have been passed from the Haitian flag, because Haiti used to reign supreme over the territory. Now, the colors are indicative of bloodshed, freedom and salvation. Many people believe that the founding father, Juan Pablo Duarte, picked the three colors and changed the position of the blue and red hues. He also added a big white cross to signify the people’s deep faith in God.

There is a special emblem located at the center of the national flag. In the middle, people will discover a bible and a cross. These represent the Roman Catholics because over 90 percent of the national population are devout Catholics.

There are four more flags presented with the Dominican Republic flag. There are small national flags placed on spears. Each on has a cross and bible around it. The four small replicas, however, do not include the middle emblem. People also like to make other versions influenced by the Dominican Republic flag. These are waved by people during parades and national holidays. Flags are also available in front of government buildings.

Handing Out College Team Flags For Students

It can be quite challenging to look for the best gift to give to your college child. If you want to give them something that they will truly treasure, you might consider getting college team and school flags. Many people will advise you to get into the head of a normal college student to determine which present will be most appreciated. Many students are indulged in sports during college or like to watch their favorite college team so it would be a good gift if you provide them with paraphernalia or clothing that includes the official team logo and colors. There are plenty of things to choose from like sweaters, caps and car stickers.

Giving college team flags is also a great idea because students like to bring these with them while watching games. Some also decorate their dorms with flags or wave these during parades.

Many of the flags available at games are made of low-cost materials that deteriorate easily. If you wish to give a gift to last, you should look for a professional flag maker. Have them pick the right material depending on the purpose. The college flag your kid might like usually measures 3 x 5 feet. You might also like to use a pole or accessories to hang the school flags properly. Get more ideas from experts and ask your child’s classmates if he or she prefers a specific team. Some materials to pick from include nylon and heavy duty fabrics. These are ideal for outdoor conditions.
