The Confederate flag used to be known as a flag for rebels. It has

been part of many discussions especially involving the Southern states

of America. In 2000, protesters wanted to have the Confederate flag

taken down from its position at the state house of South Carolina.

Even a decade before that, a number of legislators in the south

suggested that it would be good for the state flags to remove the

symbols and other elements. Georgia and Mississippi actually have the

Confederate elements present. Many people continue to talk about the

matters that led to the creation of the Rebel flag. Many see it as a

sad symbol of a time when slavery was rampant throughout America,

especially in the south. Others see the flag as a symbol of reverence

and honor, standing for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during

the Civil War.

surrounding the Confederate flag, although South Carolina is deemed as

one of the pioneers.

surrounding the Confederate flag, which may have influenced other

states to initiate issues as well.

Whatever the size is, whatever the configuration is or the inspirational pattern any related flag is made out into, one would be able to identify that the stars and stripes are technically synonymous to the Old Glory. Even if, let us say that other flags have been created out of an honest to goodness original concept, anything that speaks of either red, white, and blue, coupled with stars and stripes would definitely have a notion that it was inspired by the Star Spangled Banner.

What is interesting to know about the American flag is the collection of small trivia tidbits that made it the flag that it is today. Even if we are all familiar that the flag represents one of the biggest superpowers of the world, there are still some information worth knowing.

For example, the flag of the United States is only to be displayed outdoors only until before dark. In case one would need to display the flag for a whole 24-hour duration, it may be done provided that the flag is kept lit either by a focal lamp, or any other similar illuminating device.

In addition, the orientation of the flag indicates the situation the bearer is in. having it upside down would indicate distress and danger and that the bearer is in need of immediate assistance.

Historically, the first nation other than the US which recognized its political sovereign was France. It may be noted that the latter helped the continentals achieve independence through wartime support.
