The Star in Events Management

As days travel faster and technology running a mile a minute, people are more inclined into buying convenience rather than attending to things which they can pay people to do for them. I’m talking about special events like weddings, corporate trade fairs, Sweet 16s and golden anniversaries. The events management industry is growing faster than crop and a lot of people are also joining the industry.

People are just easily impressed with coordinated events. In fact, coordinated events are easy to spot. All the decorations are faithful towards the theme of the party and the time schedule is followed properly. However, what really stars coordinated events is the consistency of the things which catch our eye. For example, avenue banners start advertising the event from a hundred meters away. Visitors and prospective visitors of the event will feel a surge of anticipation because the idea of a well-planned gathering is advertised towards them. When they get to the venue, they find all the table runners and table drapes in similar colors and designs. As they go on through the evening, the little details like the crystals that compose the centerpiece and the flower arrangements stay pristine. See? That’s the difference between coordinated and non-coordinated events.

So if you get your chance to work for this industry, the secret is consistency. You have to be assertive of your ideas and bring them to life during the affair itself. Don’t forget that the event IS your major advertising break and perhaps a chance to own the industry.

Getting Used to Change

Just before winter season fall arrives, the wind, the breeze is colder than before. Like the usual days, people are busy. They come and go to the stores and they cross the streets like every other day. Walking in the park, one can see brown leaves fall and dry leaves of various trees mount up making the once green ground brown. This is the season where everyone is preparing for — Halloween. Everyone’s thinking of costumes and designs that would make them the star of this season. You still think it’s an ordinary day but things are not the same.

Like the time when you only see hydraulic excavators and backhoe loaders beside CAT flags, you know that it is normal since CAT is known to build vehicles. Then you notice the same flag at the department store but this time they sell shoes. You think of big machines yet you only see shoes, things become a bit odd in your eyes. Just like in autumn, everyday would look the same except that days seem dull and a few houses have fall flags already making things look vibrant yet different. Days become noticeably shorter and nights grow longer.

You think that days pass by so fast. Years seem like hours and when you look back things are never the same. People experience this stuff all the time, alarmed that things change very fast. They sometimes complain of how things change but when they see things that are nostalgic they would look to see what’s in the present. It’s either they’re afraid of the past or they just refuse to accept change as a part of our short lived lives. Whether it’s facing the future that comes soon enough or forgetting the past that should never be told. Let these parts of our lives fall like the leaves in autumn. Change comes too soon we just have to be ready to accept it.

The NATO Ideals

It is quite rare nowadays to see countries at war within its society, or even with the other countries, thanks to the intervention of a greater alliance of concerned nations such as the United Nations to protect each other from oppressive intentions by other countries.

Nevertheless, there are instances wherein these turmoil occur inevitably even with the pacification of the United Nations. Even when faced with the penalties and retribution brought about by the council on the violating state, these war initiating countries found greater cause in sticking by its own intentions rather than adhere to the ideals of the higher council.

When these kinds of wars happen such as the very popularly depicted Gulf War in the Middle East, one may expect military intervention by alliance countries of the oppressed country, as well as other forms of organizational assistance. During news coverage and advisories, one may see a unique flag not carried by any nation or country.

This dark blue flag with a compass of four directions describes the NATO flag. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, comprised mainly of Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, and United Kingdom, was established in 1948 to address the need to protect each other from other opposing countries, which during that time was potentially Russia. Germany at that time has already withdrawn from the war after its defeat in the Second World War.

The ideals and support of the NATO forces still exist until today as soldiers, tanks, and other humanitarian aid are sent to help out any other countries at war.

Though they may be a mix of different nationalities, the people under the service of this organization are united and act without affiliation to any single country, especially their own origin. What is seen with the people of NATO is a combined service of different countries stripped off their identities and brought together under the NATO flag.

Time and time again, this military aid has successfully helped out countries at war and brought about eventual peace.

The Lone Star of Africa

In the African continent, there is a rather economically poor country ravaged by strife and civil unrest. Its citizens have been almost forgotten previously by other nations as the latter have progressed in civilization and modernization. This country has been left as a lone star amidst the global progress of others.

Flying the plain blue flag with the single white star in the middle, the flag of Somalia speaks more than just being a lone country. Ironically, it is not the only country in Africa having problems with the economy and overall civilization.

Being the cradle of civilization, as stated in many archaeological references and literature, the African continent may have been the start of what all of us are right now, but many have not been able to discern the significance of this idea, nor have they considered helping out their neighboring countries.

Perhaps the lack of international aid in the past may be excusable as the trend in nationalism was geared more to power and territoriality, hence the frequent wars and battles that ensued.

With the shift of nationalistic pride towards security and globalization, the United Nations was set up to be a platform for common national interests of participating nations. Several other subunits have sprouted from this, one of which is the WHO, UNESCO, WHF, and other organizations.

The foundation of this global group of countries united in the sense of nationalism has been a good thing for those countries not able to keep up with the ever changing progress of others. Financial as well as human resource help have been a great addition to meet the needs of the less developed countries.

It may be quite difficult to bring all other unfortunate countries at par with the current state of the most advanced countries immediately, but it is through this ideal that countries like Somalia, the lone star country in Africa to have good hope in rising from its ashes of poverty and deprivation.

The Pillars of Home

He opens up a can of beer every night. He drives to you to school on the first day. You play catch with him using the old pig leather or he taught you how to drive a bike. Yes! Your hunch is right he’s the one we all call dad. On every third Sunday of June we celebrate and appreciate our fathers. This is the day where we buy father’s day flags from stores or order them through the internet. Showing our love and appreciation to our fathers are sometimes hard. It’s hard to approach a dad sometimes. He is considered as the pillars of the household and the main disciplinarian. It’s hard to get a smile from him let alone a resounding laughter but like any other he is your best knight.

Some dads never say “I love you” or say “Give me a hug” like moms. You often see them holding a can of beer on their right hand while enjoying NFL nights while holding a Jacksonville Jaguars flag on the other. More people think that there dads have no time for them. Some think that there dads can’t believe that they are already grown ups. Some are being choked due to the pressures that they receive from dads. Although we only see the hard times they give us we can’t deny the fact that in times that we are down they are there sharing every tear. That in every failure we get they wish you strength. That in every success we gain they are very happy to see our joy. For those who still have fathers, you are lucky and you should treasure every moment with them. Disregard the pressures for they only want the best. For those who have lost their old man wherever they are, they just want you to be strong and happy.

Three Things to Do During Summer Vacation

Summer vacation is almost near and definitely it is making heads stir and thoughts wander on what to do to maximize enjoyment during this time of the year. Every year, students anticipate its imminent arrival as it allows them to take a break from the burden of academic pressure. Parents are able to get some rest from waking up so early everyday just to prepare their kids’ lunch packs. Workers and employees get to file for a day or two for a leave to spend with their families.

In every aspect of society’s existence, summer vacation is the time when everyone has something planned to have fun. For those who have not noticed that the vacation has already come knocking, here are the top three things to do this summer.

Hit The Beach!

The most common and probably still the most sought after recreational activity is to hit the sandy shores of the continent and spend time with friends and families basking under the sun. For children, it becomes a haven for playing with water and building sand castles, for adolescents and adults, it becomes a haven for ogling and prospect hunting of babes and hunks.

This may be done at a new level of vacation as travel may be included to try out beaches of other countries. For example, one of the most popular beach resorts may be found in the Bahamas, that small island country flying typical black triangle with three horizontal stripes. When someone says the Bahamas, it would most probably mean beaches and more beaches to wallow in.

Forrest Trail Adventure

For those who are more of a nature lover and would want to explore the deep woods, summer camping would be an ideal choice for children and teenagers. For one, parents get to have their kids off their backs for a little while as the couple spends time with one another. Children get to spend a lot of time with friends and relatives.

Mall Ratting

Those who are on a tight budget may opt to choose to enjoy the amenities and comfort of the cool environment of the malls. Having to spend only the fares of going to and back may be the only practical expense one may incur, though it would really be pitiful not to be able to spend a little for some entertainment.

Specific plans rest up to each person’s preference. Whatever it may be, make sure that summertime is justified with fun and excitement.

The Great Jumbo Jet

Flying is always and exhilarating experience. Once upon a time, the thought of flying has spurred the interest of our ancient master, constantly designing different models to emulate the flight of birds. Leonardo Da Vinci once thought of creating flying machines to take him up to the sky and touch the clouds and fly with the birds.

Several designs were made, such as the hot air balloon which became an important tool for scientist during the old times for test flights. But it was Orville and Wilbur Wright who were able to create and apply designs of the first aeroplane. Even if the machine only lasted for seconds in the air it started the revolution that enabled humans to fly at the present.

Today the Airbus A380 is considered the master of the skies. Considered as the largest commercial plane ever built, with its four strong engines I could imagine it gaping tons of air capable of changing directions of airport flags. It’s supposed to cater for more passengers and give them extra comfort compared to the existing planes in the mainstream. I have never ridden on one just yet but I’m hoping to ride one in the future.

Riding on one is also a painstaking task as well I guess, since as far as I can remember only Singapore air had the chance to purchase one of those. It was reported that British Air is gonna buy 20 of them but to when it will be available is something I do not know. I hope more will be available in the future.

As of the moment, The flight simulator would be enough to fill my imaginations of riding an A380. Taxiing across the tarmac, waiting in line to use the runway and see the airport flag flutter with the wind, that sure is a wonderful sight. The best thing is that I’m the captain and I’m the one to choose where to land again.
