Sending One Million US Flags to the Middle East

I had a strange dream one night.

The date was February 12, 2023 in the future and there was fire, destruction and chaos everywhere. About 20 countries around the world are fighting, particularly nations in the Middle East and North Africa. Even some parts of Asia are affected. There are groups that destroy all items that come from the Western countries. American flags are being ripped and burned by Arab protesters. These violent individuals have also resorted to destroying government structures and defacing old statues. There are people who hate the Jews, Americans and even Christians.

In my dream, there were no more churches in some areas. Crosses, bibles and other symbols of Christianity were also destroyed by the insurgents. The President of America then decided to make a change. He said that the United States should send one million US flags to the violent areas as a means of foreign aid.

Many people did not understand the approach. Others even said that it would only be useless and money would be thrown out for no good reason.

Actually, the flags sent in my dream were indestructible. The materials to make the flag featured carbon nanotube and graphene so there was no way that the flags could be torn or burned. In fact, when someone tried to burn the flag, it would cause red, blue and white smoke to rise. It would be a great way to frustrate the violence-seekers in the area as well as spread patriotism and nationalism throughout the continent.

Much Ado About Mexico’s Flags

The first Mexican flag is the same as the national flag you see at present. However, the eagle that has a crown used to lack the serpent that it now devours and grips tightly with its sharp talons.

The second national flag of the country was raised in the beginning of the first federal republic in 1823. The only difference with the new flag was that the coat of arms was replaced. The crown on the eagle was taken out and a serpent was added to the right talon. There was also a branch of oak and laurel featured on the banner. The flag was removed in 1864 after the federal republic was also taken down.

Next is the national flag showing the green, red and white pattern, together with the coat of arms at the center on the white stripe. The length of the flag has changed from 4:7 to 1:2 and there were four golden crowned eagles placed on each of the four corners. The design was ordered in 1864 by the Emperor Maximilian, inspired by his French taste. The flag was again removed in 1867 when the emperor was ousted by the Mexicans.

Next was the flag with the lone eagle and serpent again, but without a crown. It was raised frequently but was not yet the official national flag.

The present Flag of Mexico was officially adopted on September 16, 1968. The eagle was transformed to face the side instead of the front.

Mexico City also became host to the 1968 Olympic Games during the summer, which resulted to a new Mexican flag.

Celebrating Mexican Culture with the Mexican Flag

The design of the Mexican flag tends to change through the years. Looking back at its history, the banner has been changed eight times already. Some of the adjustments were quite small but there are also bigger changes that transformed it completely. Some of the features on the flag have stayed the same through time such as the coat of arms. The serpent, eagle and cactus are still there. The design and placing of the animals, rock and cactus on the flag has changed after several years. According to Aztec legend, the ancient gods ordered the Mexicans of old to build a city. As they were building, they saw a great eagle devour a serpent and the place they created became the city capital. The Spanish conquerors arrived in the 1500s and claiming the area.

The first national flag of Mexico was unofficial but was regarded as the Standard of the Virgin of Guadalupe. Many people in Mexico at present are Catholics and still give reverence to the Virgin Mary. The Standard was related with the rebel army that was quite dominant during the Mexican War of Independence.

After the Spanish left in 1821, Mexico raised its first official flag. It was the Imperial Flag which featured green, red and white colors. The colors were placed in vertical fashion and the crowned eagle was placed in the middle stripe. Until today, you will see all these colors and symbols on the flag. Mexicans showcase these with pride to remind them of the tribulations they had years ago.

How to Choose the Ideal Commercial Flagpole

The standard commercial flagpoles are set around 30 to 60 feet from the foundation. These are usually made of steel, iron or aluminum tubing.

Many clubs and individuals like to present two or more flagpoles so they have a more unique and beautiful display. There should be enough distance between the poles so that the flags continue to wave beautifully together and prevent the poles from hitting each other, especially during strong winds and earthquakes.

There are actually a couple of halyard or rope-and-pulley systems for the poles. The first is the external while the second is the external halyard system. These are useful in raising the flag and lowering it. The external halyard system was called such because the rope is located on the outside of the pole. The flag is set on a rope and placed through a truck or wheel on top of the flagstaff. The rope is tied around a cleat at the bottom so that the flag is stable and does not easily go up and down the pole. This set up is convenient but the rope by tear anytime.

The second type is the internal halyard system which is found inside the flagpole. The winch goes through a hinged door space at the base of the flagstaff and there is a revolving truck that will keep the flag in place despite the outdoor weather.

Steel flagpoles are often used because these are easy to maintain and will last a long time. Depending on the halyard system you use, there will be a number of benefits associated with each.
