About the Minnesota State Flag

American features fifty unique states, including Minnesota which is found in the northern portion of the country. The unique flag of Minnesota features the seal of the state at the center and a blue background. The flag was officially adopted by the state in 1957 and has been featured many times since until today.

There were also a number of adjustments made on the flag, particularly the emblem in the middle. The very first state flag used by Minnesota featured a blue side and a white side. This was in 1893 and a seal of the state, moccasin flowers, were shown at the center. During the 1980s, the emblem was changed into the current one. The moccasin flowers seal was also changed in 1957 when the current one was adopted.

Minnesota is the 12th biggest state in America and has over 5 million people. The state joined the Union in 1858 and is also known as the “Land of Ten Thousand Lakes”. It has a very cold climate and experiences snow.

One of the main wonders that the state is proud of is its landscape. People flying and entering through St. Paul’s airport in Minneapolis can attest to the beauty of the scenery.

About 60% of all people in Minnesota live in Minneapolis-St. Paul or the Twin Cities. Many people who currently live in the state actually originated in Germany and Scandinavia. Their ancestors first came to America during the great European migration and settled in various parts. It also explains why you will notice people with European characteristics or practices in the area.
