How the Chinese Flag Started

If you take time to check, there is actually a close resemblance between the national flag of the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China banner. The closeness will lead to confusion and misunderstanding to viewers as to the background and owners of each flag. The flag of the People’s Republic of China stands for the Chinese flag while the Republic of China stands for Taiwan. The very same colors of the two banners and the same position of the image found on the top left portion are the main features that cause many to get disoriented.

Generally, the Chinese flag features five golden stars against a red canton. Among these stars, there is one big star and four smaller ones. Because of the pattern, the flag is known as the “Five Star Red Flag”. There are actually differences in the importance of the tones and stars featured on the banner. While some people link the red background of the flag with change or revolution, it can also mean communism for many.

As to the stars, there are also various interpretations for these. The large star stands for the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The four smaller stars stand for a united China and the strong leadership of the nation’s leaders. There are others saying that the four stars represent the four classes of society in China: the peasants, the workers, the capitalists and the bourgeoisie.

The Chinese flag is from the people because they designed it.
