Besides the usual set square and generic colored motifs, and the iconic all-seeing eye and with the gold edges and the braided rope around the perimeter of pennant streamers, fraternities have made common ideas more distinct but with specific details for their own identity.
Even colleges universities have specific designed pennant streamers and banners, complete with school colors and initials. Even more so, some have associated their names and official schools logo and seal with that of a certain thing. Some examples are of animals, nature and other similar names used specifically in sporting meets and other forms of interschool competition.
Greek letter fraternities typically have their three-lettered combination of symbols on banners and streamers. Others take great pride and joy and wear it on their shirts, bags, and almost anything they wear and use. This is because of the great distinction of being affiliated and being part of a group which is looked upon in society.
Even lore and stories have come into good terms with using of pennant streamers. One example is the famous skulls and crossbones which is very familiar to young and old alike – that being representing pirates.
Even commercial and industrial sectors make good use of these pennant streamers and symbols. Ships have their own set of banners, symbols, and flags to signify their country of affiliation, their naval group, and their insignia. Cars even have their own symbols distinct of their company’s sense of identified pride. While not in the form of banners, the idea of having the logo as a symbol of identity is also used in different things.
