Making a DIY flag case is quite a fun and worthwhile activity especially once you get to feel the worth and value of a personally crafted object. Here is the list of materials needed and a few instructions on how to fashion them for your project.
In this design, we will need a simple glass cover. From the exact size of the viewing frame, it should be around an eighth inch shorter, or if inserted within the frame, should be about a quarter inch larger.
The next item is an 8 foot wooden corner board. It is basically about 3/4-inch long on every side where there is a 45 degree cut. After cutting through, you may insert the glass panel on the underside of the frame or you may use a table saw to cut a thin ridge at the middle part of the inner side of the whole frame where you would be inserting the panel depending on what type of attachment you would be having for your flag case.
You may use small wood nail to fasten the wood together or even molding. Make sure that the depth of your ridge in the inside of the frame is just about an eighth inch deep since you would be having both sides, which adds up to the quarter inch allowance you have provided earlier to your glass panel.
Another tip in sawing a ridge in the thin wood frame is to not force the blade of the saw. Slowly and surely, guide the wood on the table saw until the desired depth for the ridge insertion is made.
