When planning to create your own flag case, you would only need a few basic things to concern yourself with. One of the most common and most effective ways to display a flag is with a glass cover. Here are some of the basic materials and tips on how to go about it.
For the simple glass panel covering, you would have to know the measurements first. Whatever the measurements would be, you would have to determine then what type of fixing you would be doing to your glass panel as it would greatly affect the dimensions. If you intend to place it inside a groove insertion in the wooden frame, you may add about a quarter of an inch to allocate 1/8th inch per side for groove insertion.
As you buy the wooden frame, it would be wise to buy an 8’ long cut, as you would be cutting them for the perimeter, with 45 degree angle cuts. As you begin forming the cover panel frame sides, you may want to create the groove on the inner side which is 1/8th inch deep. In order to do so, it would be ideal to use a table saw and measure the appropriate depth. As you make a pass with the wood for the frame, you may want to be gentle enough so as not to force it, but gently let the saw blade gradually make its depth to the wood.
Afterwards, put them together using appropriately small wooden nails, making sure that the groove in the interior sides are aligned. Before closing the whole frame, make sure that you do not forget to insert the glass panel and fit it snugly in the groove, before finally placing the last side of the wooden frame of your flag case.
