Making Funeral Bunting Flags

Celebrating does not really mean being festive about an event. Even funerals of a loved one may be celebrated, marked by perhaps banners and funeral bunting flags to commemorate the said day for remembering the passing of a great person. Here is how to start off by making your own funeral flags.

Begin by having strips of cloth sewn to each others’ ends, with around at least half an inch of seam. Some may even have an inch of seam instead for better clearance. Hemming the panels with a quarter of an inch fold and sewing the seam with the fold to create a smooth edge would be the next step.

Place the panel on a flat surface such as an ironing board to make sure that they stay flat and nice. You may choose to have the right side up facing you. When determining the number of sections, make sure that you have equal dimensions when dividing it. For instance, if you have a 45-inch long panel, each section may be about 5 inches each, thereby making them fully equally divisible.

Making creases for your funeral bunting flags may be created using a hot iron pressed considerably over a fold. Make sure that the fabric does not get burned in the process by over prolonging the exposure to the iron. Also make sure that the fold should be folded back to the side of the panel where it was taken.

When the whole length of the flag panel is creased nicely, sew as needed and display when appropriate.

How to Make Bunting Flags

Bunting flags are very popularly used during the holidays and public events. Perhaps you are familiar with those long strings with multiple inverted triangles attached to it, and draped over streets or main pathways of locations of celebrations. Usually, they are displayed like when it is the fourth of July, or an election week, or even Veteran’s Day. While there is a free form method on making these kind of flags, there are moments when fan bunting flags are supposed to follow some strict protocol such as when during funerals.

The basic protocol when making bunting flags is to first determine the base width or number as this will be the basis for the other dimensions. In this case, let us suppose that your choice is about 30 inches wide. Make your base number 30. Now, to determine the width of the panel, take the base number’s half – 15. Otherwise, stick with the base number.

When making the fabric strips for your bunting flags, make sure that the width is divisible in equal parts. In this example of having a 15 inch dimension, cutting them into 5 equal parts would bring you to 3-inch wide strips. Add an allowance of an inch for the seam for each strip as you will be placing them in overlapping fashion to be sewn. Therefore, actual strips should be four inches wide each. Do not worry as you overlap the inch of seam, you will still have a net of 3-inch wide clearance as you have earlier set.

When Making Fan Flags and Buntings

When making a half fan bunting, it is important to take note of certain pointers to make your output a well worthy creation. Since these items are usually displayed during holidays and special events such as Independence Day, Veteran’s Day, or even Election Day, it is still as equally important to make use of the best materials to achieve a bunting that is pleasing to the eye and appropriate for the occasion. The shape, size, and color pattern is relatively flexible for one’s own taste for the occasion; well except for funerals wherein utmost care and detail is required to render respect for the departed and to the overall occasion.

In a general sense, uniformity or a sense of pattern is essential when making bunting flags. In this case, it is important to pre determine the width of the flag. For instance, if you would choose to have 20 inches, then make it as your base number and make half the width of the panel. Otherwise, have the same with as your base.

As for the strips of fabric, try to make sure that the strips from the total width of your predetermined width would be of equal dimensions. In the earlier example, half of the base number is 10. So in making about four strips, 2.5 inches would be the right measurements. Make sure that there is an allowance of let us say an inch. Summing them all up together would be just about the same width as your base.

Lay them out and sew them together as you please for your very own fan flag bunting.

What are Soccer Corner Flags

If you are a soccer sport enthusiast who watched many games whether live or in television you may notice that one of the primary components of a field are the soccer corner flags. These flags are put up at the four corners of the soccer field to show boundaries. Whether the games are for amateurs or for professionals, corner flags are standard tools. When buying a corner flag, usually it must be purchased in a set of four flags.

Corner flags or field markers are simply made of a flag and a pole. And often, these come in attractive and bright colors for better visibility because soccer fields are generally wide. The usual colors seen are yellow, green, black, white and red. The common designs are stripes and checkered which shows combination of the usual colors. The poles usually are just between half to one and a half inches in diameter that are made of either acetate of PVC or basically plastic. More modern poles are foldable and easy to carry. The Mexican Fiesta Flags

In South America, there is one country that is known for its cultural and religious traditions and lively fiestas – Mexico. Throughout the history of Mexico, you will realize that hundreds of fiestas are held every year where people showcase colorful parades, dances, songs and other fun activities. Many times, fiestas will feature wonderful displays of buntings, flags and fireworks. The flags are specially referred to as papel picado. The Aztecs are the ancient race in Mexico. They used to make flags via a material known as amatl. It is a bark-mulch paper with drawings of their ancient gods. These have been passed on from generations to generations.

When the Spanish came to Mexico, they introduced a new means of cutting paper, originally from China. The flags started to take on more attractive forms. These are the current ones you see on the streets and in churches during the festivities. The papel picado have layers and the designs are carved using chisels and knives. There are also flags that feature faces of people and other images, such as that of the Virgin Mary. Other pictures were also featured at times like flowers, skeletons, angels and crosses. Some people like to customize their own flags and even show their own faces or family emblems on the designs.
