It took me some time to ponder because after so many occasions I’ve been into (wedding receptions, birthdays, children’s christening, Christmas parties and the like), the usual giveaways are distributed to guests. But in a few that I’d say memorable is when miniature flags are given as souvenir for the event instead of balloons during birthdays perhaps or cigar when a baby boy is born. It practically caught me off-guard because I was born into a family that treasure our rich traditions. Is this the new system of remembering a milestone in a man’s life?

As our world matures, so thus tradition, it changes although only subtly. At our time and age, nothing is really impossible.

One time I saw him about to leave for a family gathering, because he reasoned out that it becomes a commitment to join the fraternity of the Wang’s family. Who would have believed that the reunion invites a third of Chinatown, since almost everybody are inter-related.

Even in the United States their family membership is already awesome, much more if the reunion was held in China where each family could number about 8 to 10 million members. So, judging from the numbers, each clan must have a symbol to stand for and this is best exemplified by the family crest flags which had been handed down to them by their forefathers.
