Buntings and Their Uses

Buntings are like flyers made of paper, plastic, cloth or the like that are hung and connected together using a string. These are often colorful and with designs used to add life to an occasion or event as decorations. Oftentimes, buntings are seen in festive events such as holidays, sports, school, and/ or family activities. There is no standard design for these and, in fact, buntings can be customized in any manner. In birthday events, buntings are usually in favorite colors of the celebrant. The American buntings on the other hand have colors of red, white and blue.

Making or preparing buntings is very easy. Thus, it can be an exciting and fun activity that can be done by an individual in solo or in group. Below are some few tips on how to prepare one:

1.   Measure the points of the areas where the bunting will be hung. This will determine the length of string to be used.

2.   Measure the distance of banners to each other. This will determine the quantity of buntings in relation to the length of the string too.

3.   Identify the perfect bunting size appropriate for the occasion and place. Outdoor buntings are generally large with 10 inches length and 8 inches width. It must be large enough to be noticeable from a certain distance.

4.   The shape of the bunting can be triangular, rectangular or anything goes. It depends on the preference of the maker.

5.   To make sure that the sizes of buntings are the same, it is best to make a paper pattern to use for tracing or as guide in order to produce more.
