For several centuries, flags have always been used to represent armies. Even the great armies of old like the Romans, Spaniards, French and Portuguese made use of these banners as a way of showing their allegiance and dominance as well as boosting the morale of troops. Aside from national flags, military men also designed their flags accordingly to distinguish the group from others. US military flags are among the many made to represent a particular branch of the state.
In many military bases and stations, people can easily find the US flag raised in full view. Below the national flag, you will also find other banners or flags that represent the particular group or branch within the specific area. All branches of the US armed forces will feature their relative flags. Aside from these, there are also flags representing special forces, divisions and high-ranking officers.
Whenever different parts of the US military are represented, the flags will most likely be shown in a particular order based on the time when each group was formed. For example, the usual sequence will feature the Army first, followed by the Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. During war, the Coast Guard will be implemented within the naval forces.
The US Army also has a distinct military flag which will showcase the seal of the department. The seal is blue against a white background. Under it is a red scroll indicating “United States Army”. Under the ribbon, you will find the year “1775” in blue. This is the time when the Army was formed.
