The flags you see in Africa incorporate livelier and more unique colors and elements. Many world flags today are featured on top of a residential flag pole and use the basic materials like steel and wood. A number of nations in South Africa are going through huge growth spurts in their economy which is why they also include certain elements in their banners that would represent wealth and prosperity.
Initially, Nigeria was a British protectorate and then transformed into a British colony. The country was created in 1914 due to the union of the north and south parts. The country gained freedom in 1960 and was included in the Commonwealth. The history of the country is very rich and includes a lot of stories stemming back thousands of years ago. There are several proofs discovered that human beings in the area in 9000 B.C.
Before, explorers from Spain and Portugal started the trading routes which included the area of Nigeria as well as other adjacent countries. The Portuguese and Spaniards exchanged goods and items with the people of Nigeria particularly those that resided just near the beach. Trading of slaves was also common during those times. The Kingdom Great Britain ruled the region during the 1900s for about sixty years.
Nigeria also experienced huge developments in oil trading and harvesting because of the boom during the 1970’s. The country became part of the OPEC and continued to experience huge growths by earning billions of dollars. The Nigerian people, however, did not enjoy much of the rewards because of corruption existing in the government.
