The World Flag of Nigeria

The flag of Africa is very assorted in its elements and colorful and thus it’s meaning.

Most flags are raised from a pole which is residential in type and made from varied materials like steel and wood.

Several African countries are undergoing considerable economic increase, which is sometimes reflected in the various elements on their respective banners.

Nigeria fist became a protectorate of the British and then a colony.

In 1914 the country was born with the union of the northern and southern regions.

In 1960 it was declared an independent nation and then became part of the commonwealth.

The people of this territory and country have a very detailed history however.

There are several evidences which proved that humans have roamed the areas even in nine thousand BC.

The immigrants known as the Bantu have resided in the area way back in 1000 BC.

Explorers from Spain and Portugal were the very first to conduct commerce trading in Nigerian area and territory several hundred years ago.

The Spaniards and Portuguese have traded with the people who lived along the shoreline and also discussed with them the trade in slaves.

The territory came under the rule of the Kingdom of Great Britain during the 1900s but six decades later became an independent nation.

Way back in the seventies of the past century there was a boom in oil experienced in Nigeria.

The republic joined the OPEC during that time and the result of this was that the Nigerian state earned not millions but rather billions of Dollars.

It is unfortunate that the Nigerian people never really profited from this national resource as only some high ranking officers of the country benefited from it.
