Soccer Corner Flags and Their Functions

Soccer players and fans will agree that one of the most common features of a soccer field are the soccer corner flags. These are visible whether you are witching live or on TV. The flags are set up at the four corners of the huge field to mark the boundaries and indicate whether the ball is in or out. The flags are prepared regardless of whether the players are amateurs or professionals. Corner flags are highly needed to ensure that the players abide by the rules. You should always get four flags to cover all corners of the field.

Corner flags or field indicators are generally composed of a flag and pole. These come in highly attractive colors so that players can locate them at different parts of the field. The soccer field is very wide so the flags have to provide the right contrast to stay visible. Some of the common colors used are red, white and yellow so that these are easily seen from anywhere. The designs may also feature stripes and checkered patterns. The poles stand about one to two feet high and are about one to one and a half inches thick. These are generally made of plastic or PVC. The new pole designs can be folded, making these easy to set up and transfer during a long tournament.

There are corner flags that are put on the ground and feature special stakes. The type of surface will determine the right kind of flag to use. The screw-type flag is the most frequently used. There is also the spring-loaded type which features a small spring at the bottom and keeps the pole standing for a long time.
