Presenting the Military Flags

For countless centuries, great and small armies have used banners and military flags for various purposes. The ancient armies of Rome and other empires have featured a variety of flags to show which country they belong to and to increase the courage and morale of the soldiers. Aside from national flags, military troops will feature their own flags to show the specific function of the unit. American military flags will change depending on the particular branch these represent.

In different United States military stations and bases, you will always find the US flag featured in full view. Under it, you might also discover other banners and flags representing the particular branch of the armed forces and other related special troops. Every branch of the armed forces of America has its own military flag. These stand for specific groups, troops and officers.

When different parts of the armed forces need to showcase the flags, these are usually presented according to the time when they were created. For example, you will notice that during parades, the flag of the Army is shown first, followed by the Marines, the Navy, the Air Force and then the Coast Guard. In times of war, the Coast Guard is featured with the Navy. The official flag of the Coast Guard is at its headquarters in Washington, DC.

The US army military flag can easily be identified because it features the blue seal against the white background. You will find the words “United States Army” underneath and the year “1775”. This is the year when the group was created.
