There are only a limited number of people who know how to fold the American flag the right way. The first thing to do is keep the flag in good condition. The banner should always be given the respect it deserves considering that it represents the whole country.
The process goes like this:
1. Two individuals must hold the corners of the short tips of the banner as they face one another. The flag must be carried at the height of the waist.
2. The flag must be folded lengthwise into two. The side with the stripes should go up and over the side together with the blue portion.
3. The flag must be folded again in half in a lengthwise manner. The blue portion should go up and be visible at the top. Keep the flag taut throughout.
4. Fold the banner in a triangle at the portion where the stripes are. Turn the striped edge with a fold to keep it even with the corner of the open flag. Move from right to left.
5. Continue folding the triangle until it is concealed against the blue part.
6. Fold up to the last square so that the whole triangle is covered.
7. The end should be tucked within the folds. You should have a bundle well-placed as a result.
There are several occasions where the American flag must be folded in the right manner. The US Flag Code specifies the approach.
Some approaches that require this include the time when you have to bring down the flag from a tall flagpole.
