On various events and national activities, people will feature flag bearers or people wearing leather straps over their chests and body and presenting the national flag or a group banner. These special straps are called flagpole carrying belts which will hold the flagpole in place and make it more convenient for the person to move it from one spot to the next. These are very common during parades, military displays and even when soldiers are doing formations.
Before, military organizations and troops present flag carrying equipment to keep the flag up without exerting much effort. The flag can then be waved or raised when creating formations or singing the national anthem. The straps are placed over the head and shoulders and worn around the body, creating an “X” at the back. There are two types namely single-strap and double-strap belts. The single-strap kind are ideal for smaller flags or lighter flagpoles.
The flagpole carrying belts include a leather cup in the middle where you will insert the base of the pole to keep it rested. This way, the person does not have to carry the entire weight of the flag uncomfortably. The pole is held with both hands in a reverse position with the elbows bent at about 90 degrees and the pole at a diagonal position. The flag bearer can walk or march while carrying the flag with ease. In some occasions two or more flag bearers feature different flags to represent their respective groups. This creates a wonderful display during special meets and celebrations.
