Historical Flags: The Story of Ghana

Many African banners are widely known as historical flags, since many of these have been raised on both small and huge flagpoles for several years in the past. Ghana, in particular, is an independent state and has been enjoying this status for over six decades. The country has also used a number of colors that are known to many as pan African.
The red color used on the flag symbolizes the revolution and the many who fought to free the country. The yellow strip on the flag symbolizes the rich natural resources of the land. Before, Ghana used to be known as the Gold Coast. The green color symbolizes the agricultural riches of Ghana. Finally, the black star found in the middle stands for African freedom.
Ghana is situated on Africa’s western region. The country has the Ivory Coast on the west side, Togo on its eastern part and Burkina Faso on its northern region. Similar to the coat of arms and the national flag, the name of the republic stands for Warrior King. The term was commonly used a long time ago by people of the Ghana Empire.
When it comes to politics and government, Ghana is fifty-third on the list when it comes to success, compared to other republics and countries around the globe. After the declaration of independence during the 1950s, a parliamentary democratic government was set up.
The national flag of Ghana is often seen in many occasions, official or not. The coat of arms of the country showcases a sword, baton and castle to stand for authority.
