The young ones should also learn the lessons brought by the tragedy on September 11 and how it will shape America in the years to come.

Patriotic songs, poems and books will also help children understand the values of independence and patriotism better. There are so many books, media materials and interactive items that people can get in shops and on the internet to help their children appreciate love of country better. You can also make use of a powerpoint presentation of the world flag. Showcase the different flags in various states across the United States and take time to learn what the symbols and colors mean. An effective power point presentation will help children remember a number of flags easily. They will also learn how to appreciate the national flags of other countries and how they also cherish the freedom they acquired.

There are special groups for kids that foster patriotism. Children should learn some poems and songs pertaining to the independence of America. They should also memorize some of the most famous names that shaped American culture and history.

Help your kids come up with their own versions of the United States of America and let them explain what the colors and details mean.
