Step by Step Fold for the American Flag

The American flag, very much like any other national flag, is expected to be given the same amount of highest respect possible by any self respecting citizen. Whatever nationality the individual carries, all flags should be treated equal as these flags have all undergone the same sacrifices of blood shed , sweat, and hard worked sentiment by its people. Even the United States underwent priceless effort to achieve independence, thereby meriting every other person in this planet to recognize its existence.

One of the most basic things everyone should know is how to properly store a national flag. Here are some steps on how to do one to an American flag.

It would be best to have two people do this to retain the flag in a taut position, with all the edges and corners laid out properly. Start by folding it along the length of the flag right in the middle. Make sure that the top side is the one with stripes and not the blue part.

Second, fold it again lengthwise, but this time having the stars and blue area be on top. By this time, you would be having a flag that has been folded into a quarter of its width.

Next, start off with the striped end and begin with the open edge side, fold it by aligning the edge with the length of the flag. you would now have your first diagonal fold that forms a triangle. Fold it upside to form a flat edge once again before folding diagonally again to the other side. Repeat the process until you reach the other end.

As you finish off the whole length of the flag, you would notice that there is a small strip of cloth beyond  the last possible triangular fold. Use it to tuck the flag in.

And there you have it! Your American flag is now properly folded and ready to be stashed away for future use.
