The flag of United States shows 50 white stars which represent fifty states. One of it is the state of Minnesota which officially became part of the Union in 1858. It is located in North America and considered as the twentieth largest state of America. By now it has over five million residents. This state is also referred as the “Land of Ten Thousand Lakes.” For those who have flown to Minnesota, it is not difficult to notice its number of lakes that overall creates a jaw-breaking beautiful natural landscape.
About 60% of Minneapolis residents live in the so-called “Twin Cities” or in Minneapolis St. Paul. The state is popular for its strong sense of involvement in social and liberal conditions. One of the fun facts about this state is that majority of its residents are descendants of those who originated from Germany and Scandinavia during earlier times.
The flag of Minnesota has a light blue colored field with the state’s seal appearing at the middle. The state’s flag was adopted in 1957 and has been raised on flag poles for fifty more years. Many improvements were added to the flag through the years until the present.
The flag did not retain its same look back when it started. Its seal had evolved and undergone several modifications during 1980s. The first official Minnesota state flag was hoisted in 1893 designed by the Amelia Hyde Center. This time the flag has two sides, white and light blue. The seal remained located at the middle with the design of white moccasin flowers on the blue field.
