Things to Know About the Mexican Flag

The culture of a country is more or less symbolized by its world flag.

The colors used in the Mexican flag represent the ethos behind the making of a nation.

All countries, regardless of their shape and size have a flag of their own.

Each nation has a distinctive and different flag and many of them are really fascinating.

On September 16, 1968 the flag was adopted by Mexico up to the present but the design has been utilized since the year 1821.

The flag is composed of three colors- Red, White and Green and each of the color have meaning.

Green color symbolizes hope, white color symbolizes unity among Mexican people and red symbolizes the blood of Mexican heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their country.

The design of the flag and meaning of colors have changed various times through the years and the current flag is actually the fourth national flag.

The white center part of the Mexican flag depicts the image of an eagle eating a snake on top of a cactus plant.

This is referred to as the Coat of Arms or escudo nacional.

The coat of arms of Mexico originated from an Aztec legend of the way in which the Aztec people select their capital.

The Aztecs or Mexica is a nomadic group of people who travelled from the North of Mexico.

Mexicans show respect to their flag by standing straight and placing the right hand over the chest with palms facing downwards.
