Golf Flags and Basic Golf Etiquette

To get the most out of every game of golf, you have to be familiar with several rules and guidelines.

1. When positioned near the hole and you are about to putt, it is considered basic golf etiquette to take out the flag positioned directly on the cup before putting.

2. Also refrain from taking out the putting green flag if other golfers are still trying to make a shot towards the area. They need to know where they are supposed to aim for so keep the flag in position until all players are near or already on the putting green.

3. It is basic golf etiquette to tend the hole while others are putting. You can stand beside the putting green flag but not in the line of the shot. As the ball approaches the cup or hole, remove the flag to let the ball fall in. You should not distract the other player as he putts.

4. Always know the proper ways to dress at the golf course or club. A collared shirt is required in most occasions. Stay comfortable but always look respectable.

5. if you notice a divot on the grass, remove it as necessary using dirt or sand. Other players might forget to tend to their own divot so it will be helpful to do so in their behalf just in case.

All these rules are helpful especially for beginners. You can also browse the official rule book to know more etiquette tips and guidelines.
