I noticed different types of flagpoles all over the country as well as a variety of flags like military flags that represent different divisions. Today, military flags feature different other flags because there are several groups and special forces included. Some of the flags displayed include those that represent the Army, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Every division will feature a unique banner. The banner that represents the United States Army also features a blue replica of the official seal of the Department of the Army against a solid white background. Under the official seal is a scarlet scroll that shows the words “United States Army”. These are portrayed in white letters. Under the words is the year “1775” in blue letters. This represents the year when the army was first formed under the authority of General George Washington as the commander-in-chief.
State banners are usually accepted by the different states, while military flags or banners are only accepted by the United States President. The different military flags were officially accepted by the President in the 1950s. For example, the Air Force flag was accepted in 1951, the Army flag was accepted in 1956 and the Marine Corps Flag was accepted in 1954.
The military was always a significant group in the history of the United States. The founders of the country were always aiming to have a special group that would exclusively serve to protect the nation. It was only after the end of World War II that the army was officially grouped and recognized by the President.
